Kristina Carlson, Principle Instructor

Kristina, a student of the GYROTONIC® exercise method and Pilates for over 15 years, is a certified instructor in Pilates and BarreAmped and a certified GYROTONIC® Level 1 Instructor.  Kristina has trained in New York City, Dallas, New Orleans, Park City (UT) and Atlanta.  She is a resident of Oxford and prior to starting Ice Core Fitness, Kristina was president of several national privately-held companies.

Cori Benefiel, Instructor

Cori was first introduced to Pilates while in college.  As a dancer, she performed with a company whose choreography was based on a fusion of modern, ballet, African and various Latin American dance styles and for which Pilates was an integral part of technique training.  Hooked on the method’s use of resistance to improve core strength and flexibility, she continued to seek Pilates instruction even after college.  Several years of advance equipment classes with teachers dedicated to the Pilates method inspired her decision to complete the teacher certification program under Ellie Herman in San Francisco in 2006.  She remains committed to expanding her knowledge and practice of the Pilates repertoire and enjoys helping clients reach new levels of transformation.

Emily Blount, Yoga Instructor

Picture
Originally from San Francisco, Emily has practiced yoga for over 15 years.  After attending Emerson College, and moving to New York City where she worked as an actress since 2000, she realized that yoga was the most consistent, joyful, and fulfilling part of her life! In 2007 she completed her 500 hour teacher training at YogaWorks in New York City and most recently, she received her YogaWorks Teacher Trainer Certification in 2011. Inspired by passing on physical and mental wellbeing, Emily teaches intelligent, challenging, alignment-based asana with attention to the breath, compassion, honesty and her ever-present sense of humor.

Susan O'Keefe, BarreAmped and Pilates Instructor

Susan O’Keefe graduated from the University of Louisville in Kentucky with a major study in Communications and a minor study in Health and Wellness.  For twenty years, Susan has been involved in the fitness industry.  As a coach of collegiate dance teams, she has inspired and instructed young women on a quest for health.  Certified as a group fitness instructor through AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America), Susan attends yearly workshops to hone her skills.  Interested in the longer and leaner approach to fitness, Susan sought and earned a Pilates certification from the American Sports and Fitness Association.  She is also a certified BarreAmped instructor.

Susan works with elderly adults through the Silver Sneakers program.  Susan is a wife to Jack, who works as the Assistant Mens Golf Coach at Ole Miss, and a mother to Lucy, John Freeman, Henry, and Hogan.

Cayce Pegram, BarreAmped Instructor

Picture
An Oxford native, Cayce attended the University of Georgia and then returned to Ole Miss to complete an MBA before moving to San Francisco, CA.  Cayce has always been an athlete; competing in soccer, gymnastics, and national cheerleading. Her continuous love for fitness and desire to explore new avenues of exercise led Cayce to discover barre fitness while living in California.  She experienced stunning changes in her body that no previous fitness training had provided.  Increasing strength and toning muscles, all while elongating the body and deepening flexibility, Cayce has been dedicated to barre fitness for three years.  She previously worked in Human Resources as an Account Manager, but has decided to follow her passion and pursue a career in fitness and health.  Cayce is certified in BarreAmped, BarreAmped Advanced, and has experience in Gyrokinesis training as well.

Jennifer Pierce Mathus, BarreAmped Instructor

Picture
Jennifer Pierce Mathus is an accomplished Southern actor and writer, appearing in dozens of national commercial, TV and film roles—work which demands good overall physical fitness and health.  A native Arkansan, her day jobs have taken her around the world (literally) and back again—all the while pursuing her own personal and professional fitness goals, including running, boxing, weight training and yoga.  After a year-long work contract in Ireland, Jennifer returned to the Mid-South, undertaking an apprenticeship in the Barkan yoga method while building her creative resume, and her strong background in yoga serves a natural foundation for her BarreAmped practice.  Jennifer lives in Taylor, Mississippi, with her husband, musician Jimbo Mathus, and loves challenging herself and others as she builds upon and advances her BarreAmped training.

Molly Tanner, BarreAmped Instructor

Picture
Molly grew up involved in competitive dance, cheerleading, and gymnastics.  While attending college, she searched for a workout she would enjoy as much as, and be as effective as, her previous years of training.  She finally found that in barre-method fitness classes which instantly captivated her attention in a whole new way.  Not only because of the instant results, but also because of the enjoyment and challenge that the technique brings.  Living in Oxford since 2008, Molly, a certified BarreAmped instructor, is excited to be a part of bringing the BarreAmped fitness movement to her community.

Jeannie Zieren, BarreAmped Instructor

Picture
Jeannie has been an exercise enthusiast for as long as she can remember and has been an instructor in the fitness industry for more than 10 years. She grew up watching her mother teach aerobics and began to attend classes as a teenager. During college, her mom encouraged her to continue her fitness education, and Jeannie became a certified group exercise instructor by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America®. Jeannie taught a variety of classes at Mississippi State University, including power aerobics, kickboxing, abs and, her personal favorite, Pilates. She continued to teach group exercise classes in graduate school at the University of Mississippi. Jeannie returned to her hometown of Jackson, Miss. to begin her career in community development with the Mississippi Main Street Association. She continued to train in Mat Science and teach Pilates at the Christian Life Center. She and her mom also co-authored a fitness column for WOAH women’s magazine.

Jeannie began training in the barre method in 2011 as a way to get in top shape before her wedding. She enjoyed the core-centric and isometric toning of the exercises as well as the dance-inspired moves and usage of the ballet barre. She also loved the results! After moving to Oxford, Jeannie was excited to discover barre classes at Ice Core Fitness and became certified in BarreAmped. She is thrilled to join the team.
